Find your pulse

Blood vessels are like roads for blood. Let's find one! Put two fingers on your wrist, below your thumb.

Can you feel a thump-thump under your fingers?

That is your pulse! The artery springs every time the heart pushes blood.

Move your fingers a little nearer the edge and press gently. Feel for the thump-thump.

Now find a pulse on your neck, at the side under your chin. Touch gently!

Arteries carry blood away from the heart, so you can feel a pulse on your wrist and on your neck.

Thump-thump! An artery runs here from the aorta up to your head.

Move your fingers a little to the side of your throat and do not press hard.
