Oesophagus

The oesophagus is your food pipe. It pushes food down from your mouth to your stomach in a wave.

The oesophagus runs from your throat to your stomach, behind the windpipe.

The oesophagus pushes food along by itself, so you can swallow even upside down. That's how astronauts eat.
