Journeys: Stomach. Stop 6

Gatekeeper

At the bottom of the stomach there's a ring of muscle, the gatekeeper. Tap the chyme, the runny mush, so the gatekeeper lets it into the intestine!

The gatekeeper lets food through little by little, so the intestine has time to digest it.

This piece is still too big. Let the stomach mix it some more.

Food stays in the stomach for a few hours until it turns into chyme. Then it moves on to the small intestine.
