Journeys: Heart. Stop 2

Four rooms

Now we're tiny and floating along with the blood. Lead Growney where the blood flows!

The right atrium is like a hallway. Blood comes in here from the body after it has given away some of its oxygen.

Between the rooms there are little doors called valves. They open only one way, so blood can't flow back.

The right ventricle pushes this blood to the lungs for fresh oxygen.

In the lungs, the blood picks up oxygen and turns bright red. Then it comes back to the heart!

Here is the left atrium. It takes in the blood full of oxygen that came from the lungs.

The left ventricle is the strongest. It pushes blood full of oxygen to the whole body, right to your fingertips.

Doctors can see these four rooms without a single needle, with ultrasound.
